Cocoa Value Chain
To bring a transformational, lasting change to the region, the EU-STREIT PNG in close partnership with the Cocoa Board and Provincial Division of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL), provides support and offers technical assistance to the producers, agripreneurs and local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) as well as governmental authorities to increase the economic returns and opportunities from cocoa value chain.
Vanilla Value Chain
To address these gaps and support triggering a transformational, durable change, the EU-STREIT PNG, in close partnership with the East and West Sepik Provincial Divisions of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL), stakeholders and local farmer groups, provides support and offers technical assistance to the vanilla farmers, agripreneurs and local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) as well as governmental authorities to increase the economic returns and opportunities through sustainable development of this value chain.
Fisheries Value Chain
The EU-STREIT PNG, in collaboration with the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) and provincial divisions of Fisheries & Agriculture and Livestock, works on increasing the productivity and profitability of fishers in the Programme's targeted areas, increasing number of people and enterprises engaging in and benefiting from improved fisheries value chain development, and ensuring women and youth involvement in fisheries value chain and improving family nutritional status.
The Support to Rural Entrepreneurship, Investment and Trade in Papua New Guinea (EU-STREIT PNG) Programme is the largest grant-funded Programme of the European Union in the country and in the Pacific region. The Programme was developed under the umbrella of 11th European Development Fund (2014-2020) and is being implemented as a United Nations Joint Programme under the leadership of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as the leading agency/administrative agent and in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and in close collaboration with the Government and local partners with an emphasis on local agripreneurs.
